🌟 2026 English STEAM Summer Camp in Hsinchu
🔬 Science, Technology, and Creativity for Curious Young Learners
Summer is more than a school break. It is a valuable time for children to build focus, confidence, logical thinking, English communication skills, and hands-on problem-solving ability.
The 2026 English STEAM Summer Camp, organized by the Hsinchu City Science Education Promotion Association, is designed for elementary and junior high school students who enjoy exploring, building, experimenting, coding, and presenting their ideas.
Through science experiments, engineering projects, Micro:bit sensor coding, AI programming, English communication, and inquiry-based learning, students learn by doing — and by explaining what they discover.
📍 our classes are held at rented classroom space in the College of Education area at National Tsing Hua University, providing a calm and learning-focused environment for exploration, projects, and presentations.
💡 Why Choose a STEAM Camp Instead of a Regular Summer Program?
Many summer programs keep children busy. A meaningful learning camp should do more than that.
At the end of the day, children should be able to say:
💬 “I discovered something new.”🛠️ “I solved a problem.”🎨 “I built something.”🎤 “I can explain how it works.”
That is the goal of this camp.
Each week includes:
✅ A clear weekly theme✅ Hands-on projects✅ Guided thinking✅ Science records✅ A final showcase or presentation
So parents can see what their child has learned.
🚀 What Is an English STEAM Camp?
STEAM stands for:
🔬 Science💻 Technology🛠️ Engineering🎨 Arts📐 Mathematics
This is not a traditional English class, and it is not just a science activity camp.
Instead, students use English naturally while working on real science and technology challenges. They may describe an experiment, explain a robot design, present Micro:bit sensor data, or share what they observed during a project.
Students will practice:
📘 Science vocabulary🗣️ English reading and speaking🎤 Project-based communication🔎 Experiment observation🛠️ Engineering design🤖 Micro:bit and sensor-based coding🌟 Presentation skills
English becomes a useful tool for thinking, creating, and communicating — not just something to memorize for a test.
✨ Program Highlights
🔬 1. Inquiry-Based Science Experiments
Each week begins with a real-world question, such as:
🌬️ How can wind make a machine move?💡 How do sensors detect light, sound, movement, or vibration?🌱 How can technology help us solve everyday problems?🧪 How do scientists observe, test, record, and explain their findings?
Students follow the learning process of:
❓ Ask questions👀 Observe carefully🧪 Experiment📝 Record results🧠 Think logically🎤 Share discoveries
This helps children learn not only the answer, but also how to find the answer.
🤖 2. Micro:bit Sensor Coding
For upper elementary and junior high school students, the camp includes BBC Micro:bit sensor coding, data collection, simple chart analysis, and project presentation.
Students may work with real-world data such as:
☀️ Light🌡️ Temperature🔊 Sound🏃 Motion📳 Vibration⚡ Acceleration
This is more than learning to code. Students learn how technology can observe the world, collect information, analyze patterns, and help solve problems.
It is a strong foundation for students who may later explore:
🏆 Science fairs🤖 Technology competitions🧠 AI learning🚗 Robotics💻 Programming
🗣️ 3. English Presentation and Project Showcase
Each week includes a project showcase where students practice explaining their work in English or bilingual English-Chinese format.
Students will learn how to:
🎤 Introduce their project🛠️ Describe what they built🧪 Explain their experiment📊 Share results🧠 Organize their ideas🌟 Speak with more confidence
Many children have creative ideas but need more opportunities to express them clearly. Through weekly presentations, students gradually build confidence, communication skills, and logical thinking.
📅 Flexible Weekly Enrollment
The 2026 English STEAM Summer Camp is organized by weekly themes. Families may register for one week or choose multiple weeks based on the child’s age, interests, and summer schedule.
This is ideal for families who:
✈️ Have travel plans during summer🏡 Need flexible weekly arrangements🔍 Want their child to try one week first🎯 Prefer to choose themes based on interest🌈 Want a meaningful summer learning experience
Students do not need to register for the entire summer. They may begin with one week and continue if they enjoy the experience.
👦👧 Who Is This Camp For?
This camp is suitable for children who:
🔍 Enjoy asking “why” and “how”🧩 Like building, making, and experimenting🤖 Are interested in robots, sensors, coding, or AI🧪 Enjoy science experiments and hands-on projects🗣️ Want to improve English speaking and presentation skills🎯 Need more practice with focus, logical thinking, and problem solving🌱 Would benefit from a structured but creative summer learning environment
No advanced English fluency is required. Teachers will guide students according to their level and help them use English naturally through meaningful activities.
